OUR STORY

Giuseppe Lanza buys the house of Pruneto in the late sixties. Chianti’s hills and wines  global fame  was still minimal back at these days. In the middle of the seventies, his son Riccardo graduates in agricultural science at Milan University. Riccardo moves in the old Pruneto house and he start producing his first wines. The first vineyard is planted in 1972. In the meanwhile he begin the renovation of the cellars. A graduate agricultural degree is by far not enough to get into viticulture and wine-making secrets. Riccardo commit to observing the techniques of old local farmers.  He tried to gather the local knowledges, produced by centuries of hard work in this peculiar territory.

Since the first Chianti Classico vintage, bottled in 1981, at Pruneto we try to work with care and passion. We try not to excessively follow the latest trends and vogue. We have committed to work with the highest possible attention to nature and the territory, by an ecological sensibility which has always guided our choices.

This is our story, and our wines are its result.
